living off the land

Busy bees …

Never a dull moment…

We are so grateful for this beautiful land and all that it brings forth. Early on, when we first acquired the property we set up bee hives and the bees provided us with beautiful golden honey. We tapped the many old growth sugar maples along our mixed woods and made our heavenly maple syrup. We would gather fiddle heads and morel mushrooms in the early spring, and pick mulberries and wild raspberries in the height of summer for our jams. Late summer would gift us small, but sweet sun-kissed apples from the heirloom trees, for making our apple cider vinegars. The fall would bring forth the edible mushrooms and other fungi for medicinal use.

Every year we are in awe as we discover new gifts from the earth. A few years back we discovered the Chaga mushroom that grows on our many birch trees. These woody mushrooms, known for its many health benefits are ethically harvested ( leaving 20% behind for new growth ) and used in the medicinal tinctures we craft. We also use Chaga mushroom for our branded immune boosting Teas. We also are fortunate enough to have an abundant amount of Turkey Tail, and Ghost Pipe for making medicinal tinctures. Pine Pollen which is another immune supporting plant is also harvested in the spring and used for a host of health benefits.

Cedarwood harvested from the property is used in making essential oils that is used in our sought after salves. We use our big copper Alembic still to capture the essence and hydrosols from the aromatic cedar boughs.

Many of the foods and health products harvested from our land can be found in our products page. * Please note that these are craft in-house organic products and quantities are limited.
